Volt Power Analytics'
Hydropower Capture Rates

Using our state-of-the-art power market model, we are able to model small-scale hydropower plants and calculate future capture prices for projects in the Norwegian price zones.

Creating value for our clients

With our Hydropower Capture Prices, Volt can provide estimates with an insight into the revenue stream of their small hydro portfolio, both on average and across the weather spreads.

Asset owners are provided with an overview of the variation in income across the 30 weather scenarios simulated in our model, as well as the impact of low versus high fuel and emissions price scenarios on the economics of the assets in the portfolio.

The simulations are performed using a detailed EMPS price model for the Nordic countries and continental Europe in joint operation.

This outputs hourly simulation of variations due to consumption, wind and solar power, and variations due to hydrological situation in the hydropower systems.

Features

Your Projects Modelled

  • Site-specific, year-by-year electricity price forecasts up to 2050 for small hydropower plant projects in the Norwegian price zones.
  • A variety of different price scenarios can be provided.

Calculated Precisely

  • Calculations carried out using the inflow series close to the location of the plant by multiplying simulated regional prices and estimated generation series step by time step over the available data period.

Valuable Insights

  • Provides necessary data to assess the project economics for your hydropower projects.
  • By providing several different scenarios, clients can receive additional results on the risk involved in the project economics.
