Low Wind Conditions and Growing UK Capacity Influence Nordic Power Prices

A high-pressure system over the Nordics is causing very low wind power output tomorrow, Tuesday. Spot prices in most areas are tracking close to German levels, with NO2 recording the lowest price.

The UK is operating near full import capacity tomorrow, with exports limited to just one hour. However, a significant expansion of British wind capacity—more than 4,000 MW added in recent years—combined with a low-pressure system moving over the British Isles tomorrow, is helping to moderate prices.

We expect UK wind development to accelerate further in the coming years. This expansion will strengthen security of supply across the region, particularly as we anticipate a tightening power balance in NO2 and Scandinavia more broadly.
