Welcome to Volt Power Analytics, Silje Eriksen Holmen!

Today we’re welcoming Silje Eriksen Holmen to Volt Power Analytics as our new Head of Fundamentals and Hydrology.

We sat down with Silje to learn more about her background, what sparked her interest in energy, and what attracted her to Volt.

What got you into energy?

My background is in atmospheric physics — weather is power, so this progression felt natural. In 2016, I joined Powel, which was my first real introduction to energy and hydrology. That eventually led me to Wattsight, where I got to take things a step further and start modelling the power markets themselves.

What interests you most about the energy industry?

Everything comes back to weather and how central it is to all aspects of power modelling. The type of weather we experience directly determines how much energy we can produce and consume, from hydropower reservoirs filling up after a wet season to gas demand spiking during a cold snap.

What made you choose Volt?

My previous roles gave me a strong foundation, but with Volt I saw the chance to join a smaller team and build new products from the ground up. I get to work on renewable energy fundamentals and hydropower modelling in a way that I’m really looking forward to.

Fun Fact

During my PhD on Svalbard, part of my job was driving visiting scientists and politicians to the observatory in an all-terrain tracked vehicle (beltevogn in Norwegian).

Welcome aboard, Silje — we’re excited to have you with us and look forward to building Volt together.
