🍾 Meet Håvard Tørå Olsen, UX and Design Lead at Volt Power Analytics

It’s been a great month for the team. After welcoming Simón, we’re also very happy to introduce Håvard Tørå Olsen, who joins Volt as our new UX and Design Lead.

We sat down with Håvard to learn more about his background in design, what inspires his work, and what attracted him to Volt.

What got you started with design?

During my youth, I was heavily involved in the Demoscene, where designers, coders, and musicians pushed limited hardware to its absolute limit to create art.

This carried over to my first job in 2000, where I created rich media experiences using Flash and motion graphics, building the foundational skills in design, interactivity, animation, and user engagement that inform my work today.

What interests you most about design?

At the moment, I’m driven by the challenge of information design.

In the energy sector, we deal with massive, high-velocity datasets that can easily become overwhelming. My goal is to build interfaces that filter out the noise and deliver exactly what the user needs to see, while maintaining a sophisticated and clean visual aesthetic.

What got you to choose Volt?

First and foremost, the people. Many of them are former colleagues from the Wattsight days, and they are incredibly talented at what they do.

I also wanted to be part of a team that is creating something special and have the opportunity to leave my mark on all the exciting things we are planning.

Fun Fact

Since most of my professional life happens on a screen, I wanted a creative outlet that was more tactile.

I now run a Dungeons & Dragons campaign for my friends, where I handle everything from the narrative and world-building to 3D printing and painting our miniatures. We’ve been going strong for close to four years now.
