We’re thrilled to welcome Simón Norambuena to Volt Power Analytics as our Director of Continental Europe Power Markets.
We sat down with Simón to learn more about his journey into energy and what brought him to Volt.
What got you into energy?
When I was a high school student, renewables were expanding across Europe and I wanted to understand how they worked. This led me to study Electrical Engineering at the Universidad de Chile and later pursue a Master of Science in Power Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. Along the way, my interest shifted towards energy markets after seeing how much mathematics and economics are involved. Energy markets are incredibly exciting.
What interests you most about the energy industry?
The competition that takes place among different market players. To compete in energy markets, you need a strong understanding of physics, economics, and regulation. These are key factors that lead to countries having very different energy landscapes.
What made you choose Volt?
I got to see how Volt is helping clients rethink their energy strategy through cutting-edge modelling backed by deep industry expertise. It was Volt’s impact and expertise, combined with a fast-paced startup environment, that convinced me to join.
Fun Fact
I succeeded in making my family more conscious about using household appliances during daylight hours whenever possible as a way to reduce our CO₂ footprint.
